PFC Schrader was born in Waco on August 27, 1921. He attended the University of Texas at Austin where he lived in Roberts Hall. He enlisted in the Army and shortly thereafter was sent overseas. PFC Schrader was killed in action in the province of Llocos Sur, Philippines, located north of Manila on the island of Luzon. His unit landed on the Philippine Island of Luzon to retake it from heavily entrenched Japanese forces. Before he went overseas, he told his family that he had a feeling he would not make it out of the war alive. He was 23 years old and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery.
